It’s normal to face a few obstacles as you renovate your lifestyle and pursue a weight loss plan. With regard to exercise, there is one problem that nearly everyone seems to encounter: You just can’t find the time for exercise!
Between work, school schedules, childcare situations, and social obligations, it’s no wonder so many of us have trouble fitting an exercise routine into our lives. On top of that, many of us are living sedentary lives behind a desk. Whether or not you love your job, we know that this is bad for our health. A sedentary lifestyle is linked to higher rates of obesity and cardiovascular problems. Plus, a lack of activity can contribute to a sluggish feeling or even depression.
You’re definitely not alone! Luckily we do know of one smart strategy that we can share with you.
The solution for busy schedules
We call it “micro-walks”, and the concept is simple. If you don’t have time for an hour-long walk every day, break it up into manageable sessions that you can fit into your schedule.
For example, you might be able to manage a ten-minute stroll in the morning. Then, you walk for twenty minutes on your lunch break. Throughout the day, you get up to take five-minute sojourns around the office. Perhaps you can do a few laps around the soccer field in the afternoon, during the kids’ practice session. Whenever you get a few moments throughout the day, you get up and get active.
Set an alarm on your phone during the day, so that you remember to step away from your desk. You can even schedule “walk meetings” with your colleagues; they might also enjoy a change of pace. And of course, keep a comfortable pair of shoes in your car or stashed under your desk.
Micro-walks are great for your health, and you might notice that short bursts of activity boost your work productivity, too! Give this solution a try, and if you have any more questions about your workout routine or weight loss plan, please give us a call.
