Manage Your Time and Your Eating Plan

The holidays can be busy and stressful for anyone, but they certainly add an extra layer of “hectic” to your life when you’re following a medical weight loss plan. But since time management and planning will be the keys to managing the next few weeks, take the opportunity to implement these smart time management strategies now. They’ll serve you well in the new year, too!

Schedule your meals and snacks. As you juggle work meetings, social obligations, shopping, and other tasks, pencil in time for meals and snacks. Prioritizing your health this way means your needs will remain front and center, and you won’t run out of steam, become ravenous, and feel tempted to hit the drive-thru in the middle of running errands.

Stock up on easy, accessible foods. You will likely be heading to the grocery store anyway, right? Make a list, check it twice, and stock up on easy but healthy meals and snacks. We can’t stress the word “easy” enough right now. You have enough obligations on your plate, so stick to pre-portioned veggies, fresh fruit, packaged salads, individual servings of yogurt, and so on. You can get back to cooking more complicated meals in a week or two.

Cook once, eat all week. If you do want to cook a few of your meals, schedule a time to cook everything you will need for the next five days or so. Portion it out, stash meals in the fridge or freezer, and now you’re set for a week.

Don’t try to do it all. It’s okay to decline a few invitations if you’re feeling too stressed. Choose the activities that are most important to you, and that feel supportive of your health goals. Suggest active gatherings with friends, rather than parties that focus around food, and spend the most time with people who share your health values.

Speaking of goals, supporting you is always one of our top priorities. If you find yourself struggling with your medical weight loss plan in the coming weeks, schedule a check-up with us to discuss possible solutions.
