Like many things in life, a weight loss plan might not be easy, but it will be worth it. With regard to the challenges posed to most patients, we hear a few common themes, such as”
What if we told you there is one simple trick, that can address both of these problems?
Ironically, sitting at a desk all day is not relaxing and does not help you recharge. Instead, it saps your energy and makes you feel more sluggish. Stopping by the gym on your way home from work is about the last thing you feel like doing! And of course, this is a problem due to the very fact that you’ve been sitting at a desk all day, not burning as many calories as someone with a more active job.
It’s not the way human beings were designed to live, so it’s no wonder our bodies are rebelling. But you can circumvent this problem with one simple trick: Set an alarm for various intervals during the day, and get up and go for a ten-minute energizing walk.
Walk at a comfortable pace for two minutes in order to warm up, then walk at a brisk pace for six minutes. Cool down for two minutes, and then return to your desk.
You can take these energizing walks in the parking lot, or even through the halls of a building if space allows. If you’re working from home, then space shouldn’t be an issue, although you may need to set an alarm to remind you to actually do this a few times each day. At the end of the work week, you will have burned significant calories that support your weight loss plan, and you will have increased your day-to-day energy levels.
Give it a try, and see how brief “walking breaks” works for you. And if you need any other help with your weight loss plan, do give us a call to schedule an appointment.
